Three Clicks that are Worth It
Last week was a “skip week” for the newsletter, but it was for good reason. I had the opportunity to teach at the Naturally NY bootcamp, where I spoke about how CPG brands can (and SHOULD) win the “Third Shelf” today. Thank you to the amazing team behind the event!
Is your organization interested in learning about "the third shelf"? Let’s talk!
After NY, I grabbed some time in the Northwoods with my family. This combination of airports, planes and road trip(s) provided ample time to read up on things (so.many.things)! Here are three key pieces that were worth the click for me. Have a read and then get back to summering. Cheers.
In AI visibility news:
Brands and creators can now connect their Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube accounts to Search Console and see the exact queries leading people to their content, which posts are attracting the most traffic, and the clicks, impressions, CTR and search position they generate.
Reddit isn’t playin’. The discussion forum is a prime target for marketers looking to plant posts and comments that could get repeated by chatbots as genuine opinion, but Reddit isn’t having any stealth marketing tactics. “Improved automated systems caught 25,000 ‘spammy posts and comments’ a day during the first quarter, reducing exposure for users by 20% over the same period one year ago.”
In somewhat related news, The Economist dropped an ‘anti-AI reliance’ campaign that addresses cognitive surrender.
In human news:
HBR’s recent piece, “What 60 Years of Data Reveals About How Men and Women Experience Leadership” is a necessary (a stomach-turning) read for anyone in a professional setting these days. Data like this bit is particularly eye-opening, “Where men are evaluated on potential, women are evaluated on an established record of achievement, and where men’s mistakes are absorbed into an overall favorable impression, women’s are catalogued. Our data suggest this dynamic has not only persisted but intensified.”
